New Virtual Exhibition from Natural History on Europeana

This exhibition explores how newly discovered edible plants not only enriched our cuisines, but also had quite an impact on global culture, economics and politics.
Europeana's latest virtual exhibition "Edible Plants from the Americas" presents historic documents and fascinating images from earlier times, documenting how today's everyday foodstuff such as tomato, chili, pepper, potatoe, cocoa, peanut and corn werde initially seen by Europeans as strange and exotic invaders. All exhibition material provided by the Royal Botanic Garden Madrid (RJB-CSIC).

The exhibition was developed by the LinBi Project, linking biodiversity and cultural information and content.
